The 2016 West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBAs) have been launched at Eynsham Hall by Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron.
Mr Cameron revealed this year’s categories, including two new awards, in front of over 150 West Oxfordshire business people.
The two new categories for 2016 are the mark-making* Marketing Excellence Award for a marketing campaign that incorporates a broad range of activities from a successful social media promotion through to a fully integrated campaign across multiple channels, as long as there are clear campaign objectives, creative thinking and measured results.
The second category sees the return of the Hospitality, Leisure & Tourism Award, newly sponsored by Wychwood Brewery. This broadens the former Hospitality Award so that it is now open to any hotel, restaurant, pub, coffee shop, leisure facility or visitor attraction.
Commenting on the WOBAs, David Cameron said:
“I am delighted to officially launch the 2016 West Oxfordshire Business Awards. We are very fortunate to have a diverse range of thriving local businesses and the WOBAs provide an opportunity to showcase this and celebrate their fantastic achievements.
I strongly encourage all local businesses to enter the 2016 WOBAs. Now in its 6th year, becoming a WOBA finalist or winner can help to raise your company profile and boost staff morale as well as provide a great opportunity to connect with other businesses.
I look forward to hearing the finalists next year and I am proud of what everyone here today has achieved, not only for our district, but also for the wider UK economy.”Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron
There are 11 awards to choose from and businesses are encouraged to enter as many categories as they like ahead of the 30 November 2015 deadline. Entry forms can been downloaded here.
The winner of each category is automatically considered by judges for an opportunity to be crowned the STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year 2016.
Won last year by Andrew Hammond (pictured) and his Oxford Products team, this coveted award is presented to the business that best represents West Oxfordshire in terms of its success, commitment to the local area, contribution to the local economy and its role as an ambassador representing the area on a wider stage.
The trophy for the West Oxfordshire Business of the Year will be designed by art and design students from Abingdon & Witney College and made by Witney charity Synolos.
Jo Sensecall of the WOBA organising team, said:
“The WOBA categories are reviewed every year to ensure there is an opportunity for businesses to shine irrespective of their size and sector. There are many businesses in West Oxfordshire who deserve recognition for their hard work and achievements and the WOBAs provide the perfect opportunity for reward.”
Prizes are on offer for the two people who refer the greatest number businesses to enter the awards as part of WOBA’s continuous drive to connect businesses across West Oxfordshire. Find out more about the Refer a Business Prize Draw.
